Questions? I’ve Got You Covered
Yes. I am a registered Solemniser with Entheos Ireland and hold a place on the General Register Office Register of Solemnisers. I’ll guide you through the process of how to legally marry in Ireland and offer advice and solutions if you’re travelling to Ireland for your wedding. I also work with couples who have married in their home country and wish to celebrate that marriage in Ireland with a symbolic ceremony.
You must give a minimum of three months’ notice of your intention to marry; this is done at a Civil Registration Office (Registry Office). All the information you need is here. You can do this 11 months before your wedding date and it is recommended that you do not leave it until the cut off point.
You don’t have to attend the Registry Office closest to your home, or to the venue. If you have difficulty in acquiring an appointment in a particular location, other offices around the country may have more flexibility. There are currently 40 Registry offices in the country and you’ll find a list of them here. The best thing to do is ring the office of your choice as their booking system online is a bit glitchy...
If you are an Irish citizen marrying a non-EU citizen, you will be required to attend an interview to prove that your marriage is not one of ‘convenience’ (ie for the purpose of acquiring a visa). ‘Marriage of convenience’ appointments can be difficult to book; you should make contact with the Registrar as soon as you start your wedding planning.
If you are travelling to Ireland to marry, you may start the process without attending a meeting with the Registrar in person but you will be required to attend the Registry Office five days before your wedding date to present your original documents and complete your application. Please factor this into your vacation timings. You may also need a Visa.
For a legal wedding ceremony, it must take place in a venue that is ‘generally open to the public’. It must have an identifiable address too. Private houses or the family garden are not permitted venues.
Symbolic ceremonies can take place at a location of your choice. That said, sometimes practicality has to come into it and locations assessed for suitability for the safety and comfort of you, your guests and me.
You can get married at any time of the day, any day of the week.
Your chosen venue will guide you and for beach weddings, the tide will play a huge part in deciding the time! Likewise, street ceremonies or elopements are best held outside rush hour or busy times. If you’re unsure of timings, I can assist.
I have celebrated ceremonies all over the island of Ireland, as well as abroad.
For sustainability, and to minimise travel costs for you, I endeavour to work within a two-hour distance of Wexford, to include Waterford, south and east Tipperary, Kilkenny, Carlow, Laois, Wicklow, Kildare and Dublin.
Superfast fibre broadband and Google Meet make life very easy! I’m also available via WhatsApp, and for face-to-face meetings.
I am self-employed and have flexible working hours. In other words, we will chat at a time and place (virtual or real) to suit you, your time zone or working hours.
